Embracing Undocumented was founded by Felecia Russell, a DREAMer who serves undocumented people. Her goal is to connect young undocumented people to mentors, scholarships and resources while also shedding light on the visibility of black undocumented people.

At Embracing Undocumented, we hope to:

Connect undocumented students with mentors who are accomplished in their fields of interest

  • We connect students with professionals in the fields of business, education, law, and many more.

Promote the visibility of black undocumented people with their narratives

  • Stories like Felecia’s is often left out of the immigrant conversation. Black immigrants are an important part of the narrative. According to the Center for Migration Studies, “Although the narrative around immigration usually focuses on Latinx people crossing the southern border, black immigrants from the Caribbean, and from Africa comprise a significant and growing part of the story of immigration in the United States.”

Spread insight about Transformative Practices for working with Undocumented Students

  • Transformative practices in fields such as Advocacy, K-12 Education, Higher Education Institutions, mentorship, etc.
  • We provide trainings for teachers, counselors, advisors, and higher education professionals.
